Somers Baseball Drops Extra Inning Game at Enfield

The Spartans have now lost two games in a row.

The Somers High School baseball team dropped a heartbreaking 8-7 extra inning loss to host Enfield on Wednesday.

Enfield's Kyle Lumbert hit a game winning single with the bases loaded and one out in the ninth.

Chris LaPointe picked up the win for Enfield and Brick Palazzo took the loss for Somers.

Adam Donovan started the game and had seven strikeouts and five walks before Palazzo replaced him in the eighth.

For Enfield, Tom Meskell was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, Matt Aniolowski was 2-for-3 with a run, and Tyler Griffith had three runs scored.

For Somers, Austin Ficara was 3-for-4 with a walk, three steals, and two runs batted in. Mike Casciano was 2-for-4 with a RBI, and Justin Erickson was 3-for-5 with a run scored.

Somers (6-2) hosts SMSA on Friday. Enfield (6-4) will travel to Canton the same day.
