Claiborne Jones Wins 55 Meter Dash at States
The Ellington High School senior is the Class M champion.
senior Claiborne Jones won the 55 meter dash at the CIAC Class M state championship meet in New Haven on Saturday.
Jones ran the dash in 7.44 seconds, which was .09 better than Nyle Clemens of Career Magnet.
Jones also finished sixth in the 300 meters with a time of 43:51. That race was won by Precious Holmes of Hillhouse-New Haven in 40.87.

Jones scored nine of Ellington's 10 points in the meet. The 4x800 relay team of Leah Gerber, Laura Schneider, Emily Baker and Jennifer Hulstein finished sixth in 10:23.27 to earn the final point for Ellington, which finished 10th.
