Amity Ends Tri-Town's Perfect Aspirations

Shea scores all four goals as Spartans win, 4-1.

In the blockbuster movie "Jaws", set in the fictional town of Amity, the mayor tells a reporter, "Amity means friendship." On Monday, Amity Regional High School played the role of unfriendly visitors to the Enfield Twin Rinks, spoiling Tri-Town's bid for a perfect hockey season with a 4-1 win.

Co-captain Corey Shea scored all four of the Spartans' goals to send Tri-Town to its first loss after opening the campaign with seven consecutive victories.

Shea's linemates, Zach Dykun and Joe Bianchi, each assisted on the first three goals, one in each period. Shea completed the scoring with an empty-net goal with 1:13 to play.

Billy Chevalier scored Tri-Town's only goal, a shorthanded tally five minutes into the third period, assisted by Steve Pernal. The goal was Chevalier's third in the last three games.

Spartans goaltender Alec Mansfield stopped 25 shots to earn the victory, while Mitch Diresta made 23 saves in net for Tri-Town.

"We were trying to get the puck in low and get our cycling going, but we weren't burying our opportunities," said Tri-Town assistant head coach Kevin O'Leary, who ran the team in the absence of head coach Paul Dowe. "We had a couple of good quality opportunities at the start of the game, where the puck was dancing through the crease, but we just didn't finish them."

Tri-Town (7-1) will attempt to get back on the winning track Saturday, hosting Simsbury at 5 p.m.
