Tolland Comes Back to Win Against Somers

Haley Provost's two-out base hit in the bottom of the seventh inning plated the winning run, completing a remarkable comeback for in its 11-10 win over visiting .

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Alison Whitlock led off with a base hit, and was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Ashley Clawson. Whitlock scored on a double by Sam Olson and Olson scored on Provost's hit for the win.

Tolland entered the bottom of the sixth inning down 10-2, but struck back with five hits - including a Provost double and Olson triple - and two walks to get back within one run.

Tolland had five pitching changes while issuing 15 walks. Jess Olson recorded the win, pitching a scoreless seventh inning in relief.

JoJo Meunier took the loss for the Spartans.

For Somers, Julie Folger had three hits and a RBI. Danielle Chokas had two hits and two RBI and Shelby LaDue had four walks and three runs scored for the Spartans (16-4).

For Tolland (11-6), Sam Olson had four hits - including a double and a triple - and four RBI. Provost and Whitlock each had two hits and a RBI. Jacqui Foreman had two hits - including a triple - and two RBI.

Tolland will host Bloomfield at 3:45 p.m. and then travel to E.O. Smith at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Somers will now await the state tournament.
