Third Annual "Dress For Less" Event Seeking Donations

New and gently-used dresses for formal and semi-formal events will be sold Feb. 23.

There may be new snow on the ground, but it's not too early to begin thinking about what to wear to those upcoming formal and semi-formal school dances.

For the third straight year, Enfield resident Patti Magnuson is organizing "Dress For Less", where girls can purchase new and gently-used formal and semi-formal dresses for their big event.

In tough economic times, many students and parents are unable to afford the cost of what have become extravagant affairs. At Dress For Less, those worries disappear, as each dress is sold for just $27.

There are extras included with each purchase, including a $20 voucher toward dry cleaning at E-Jay's Cleaners, and a $7 voucher toward a boutonniere at the Growth Company. Those businesses are located side-by-side on Hazard Ave. in Enfield. Customers will also receive a $15 coupon from Gladys Alterations on Pearl St.

This year's sale will take place Saturday, Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Enfield Congregational Church, 1295 Enfield St., Enfield.

Magnuson said the event has grown each year, with over 200 dresses available.

"Last year people came from as far away as Torrington and Hamden," she said. "It's held early enough to accommodate the junior proms."

To donate a dress or for more information, contact Magnuson at 860-836-5994, or via e-mail at pjmtbib@hotmail.com.
