Spartans Finish Strong

The Somers High School boys' lacrosse team defeated Rockville on Monday and will now wait for the Class S state tournament to begin.

The boys' lacrosse team finished the regular season on a high note with a 17-4 victory over host Rockville on Monday.

Ray McCarthy and Johnny Albert led the attack, each scoring four goals. McCarthy also notched two assists and Albert one. Ryan Lynch added two goals and three assists and Matt Thresher had two goals.

Sean Tynan, Chris Higgins, Kevin Murdoch, Eddie Hill, and Kyle Foster all scored for the Spartans.

Mike Garrett led Rockville with three goals and an assist, and J.R. Piretti scored the other goal for the Rams.

Pat Tynan and Chris Bell combined for six saves for Somers. Cameron Neal made eight saves for Rockville (2-13).

Somers (12-4) is now waiting for Class S state tournament. The bracket will be announced on Friday and the first round is Wednesday, May 30.
