Somers Soccer Still Hot

A 3-0 victory over Coventry pushed the boys' soccer team to a 6-2 overall record.

Don Whittle led the charge for the boys' soccer team Tuesday in a 3-0 victory over visiting Coventry.

Whittle scored two goals in the shutout.

Nick Elia scored the other goal. The goal was Elia's first career varsity goal.

Jake Alvaro had two assists and Luke Alvaro notched the final one.

Alex Geas had five saves for Somers and Joakim Jensen had 12 for Coventry (7-3).

This was the third straight win for the Spartans after dropping consecutive 1-0 games to Suffield and Granby at the end of September.

Somers (6-2) hosts Stafford on Thursday at 3:45.
