Somers Pulls Away From Ellington

The Ellington High School boys lacrosse team led early but the Spartans took over in the second half.

 

The versus boys lacrosse game on Saturday in Ellington was a close affair for half of the game before the Spartans pulled away for a 15-9 victory.

Ellington was leading 6-5 at the half but Somers scored four unanswered goals in the first four minutes of second half to jump out to a 9-6 lead and the Spartans never lost control of game from there on

Mike Hanna led Somers with five goals. Zack Thresher had three goals and four assists for the Spartans. Matt Garcia had three goals, Tyler Russell had two goals and an assist, Danny Whittle had one goal and one assist, and Alex Geas had a goal for Somers (8-0).

For Ellington (3-3), Brian Borbas led the way with five goals. Connor Defemia had two goals and Kevin Vincens and Zack Palmer each tallied a goal for Ellington.

Ellington travels to Housatonic Regional on Tuesday and Somers travels to Granby the same day.
