Somers Lacrosse Wins Overtime Thriller

The Spartans defeated Old Lyme in the quarterfinals of the Class S state tournament.

The boys' lacrosse team was victorious in Class S state quarterfinal, defeating No. 3 Old Lyme 14-13 in overtime on a goal by Sean Tynan.

No. 6 Somers fought hard in a shootout, led by midfielder Alex Geas and great defense by Jason Moustafa and Chris Hamilton. 

Geas had four goals and two assists, Johnny Albert had three goals and one assist, and Tynan had three goals. Cullen Roberts had two goals and three assists, Tyler Russell had two goals and an assist, and Eddie Hill had one assist.

Goalkeeper Pat Tynan had 13 saves for Somers.

For Old Lyme (14-4), Sean McMahon led the way with five goals.  

Somers (14-4) plays in the state semifinals against Granby on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Suffield High School.
