Somers Knocks Suffield Out of NCCC Tournament

The Somers boys' lacrosse team defeated Suffield 13-6 on Thursday, advancing to the championship game.

The boys’ lacrosse team advanced to the finals of the NCCC tournament with a 13-6 victory over Suffield.

Somers was led by Mike Hanna, who had three goals and two assists, and Donny Whittle, who had three goals and one assist.

Matt Garcia had two goals, Zach Thresher had one goal and three assists, and Neil Cardwell had one goal and two assists.

Alex Geas, Dan McDonald, and Nick Marrocchini each had a goal and Tyler Russell added an assist for Somers.

Adam Holmes led Suffield with two goals and three assists. James Conway added two goals and an assist for the Wildcats.

Drew Fahle and Eric Johnson each had a goal and Brady Schoner and Nolan Donahue each had an assist.

Dan Bell made six saves for Somers (17-0) and Justin Abrams made 18 saves for Suffield (8-9).

Somers will play Avon at 7 p.m. on Friday at Suffield High School in the championship game. It is a championship game double-header with the girls' championship being played at 5 p.m. 

An all-conference awards ceremony will take place at 6:15 p.m.

Both teams will find out who they are playing in the state tournament when the brackets are released at noon on Friday.
