Somers Falls at Home to Avon

The Spartans gave it a good shot, but the Falcons eventually triumphed.

The Somers High School girls' basketball team made a game out of it, but in the end, visiting Avon went home with the 62-41 victory.

Somers made a run mid-way through the fourth to get to within nine points after being down 19 entering the quarter, but Alana Pulling led a 14-4 run by Avon to close out the game.

Somers led 12-11 after the first quarter and the Spartans found themselves down 27-19 at the half.

Pulling led Avon with 13 points and Anna Schrenecengost added 10 in the win.

For Somers, Diandra DaRosa led with 26 points. Hailee Stetson added eight points in the loss.

Somers (6-10) hosts East Windsor on Tuesday. Avon (13-4) travels to Ellington on Wednesday.
