The Spartans gave it a good shot, but the Falcons eventually triumphed.

The Somers High School girls' basketball team made a game out of it, but in the end, visiting Avon went home with the 62-41 victory.

Somers led 12-11 after the first quarter and the Spartans found themselves down 27-19 at the half.

Pulling led Avon with 13 points and Anna Schrenecengost added 10 in the win.

For Somers, Diandra DaRosa led with 26 points. Hailee Stetson added eight points in the loss.
