Somers Baseball Wins Again

The Spartans picked up their fourth straight victory on Friday with a win over East Granby.

The baseball team withstood a late charge by East Granby to pick up its fourth consecutive win with a 9-5 victory over the hosts.

Jake Alvaro picked up with win for Somers, allowing two runs - only one earned, four hits, and five walks. He struck out 10.

Jason Byers took the loss for East Granby (5-4).

Justin Liquori led Somers at the plate, going 5-for-5 with four singles and double. He scored three runs, had four stolen bases, and drove in a run.

Kevin Roberts went 3-for-4 with a RBI for the Spartans (7-5, 6-4 NCCC).

"Jake Alvaro pitched another great game and Justin Liquori just keeps swinging a very hot bat," Somers coach Eric Sharon said.

Somers hosts Ellington on Tuesday.
