Ellington Track Finishes 13th and 20th in Class M Meet

The track teams took part in the Class M state meet on Wednesday and the girls team finished 13th with 21.5 points and the boys finished 20th with 15 points.

Hillhouse won the girls' meet with 128 points and Bloomfield won the boys' meet with 129.75 points.

For Ellington, Claiborne Jones was fifth in the 100 meters and fourth in the 200 meters. Annie Sawamura finished 29th in the 200 meters.

In the 400 meters, Laura Schneider was 11th and Nicole Paparian was 18th. In the 3200 meters, Jennifer Hulstein was eighth, Leah Cawthorn was 12th, Kayla Sgarlata was 18th, and Rachel Blinn was 21st.

Alissa Rogers was fifth in the 300 meter hurdles and Kelsey Janssen was 22nd.

The 4x100 relay team of Amanda Bellezza, Emily Gerber, Paparian, Sawamura, Schneider, and Taylor Welti was 18th. The 4x400 team of Bellezza, Meaghan-Rose Costello, Jones, Paparian, Sawamura, and Schneider was seventh.

The 4x800 relay team of Emily Baker, Cawthorn, Costello, Hulstein, Sgarlata, and Devonny Waters finished seventh. 

Emily Barnhart was fifth in the pole vault and 24th in the triple jump. Sara Moore was 14th in the long jump, and Natalie Snow was 11th and Patience Turkson 18th in the shot put.  

For the boys, Alex Oliwa was fourth in the 200 meters, Alec Weiner was ninth in the 400 meters, and David Bergeron was eighth in the 800 meters. In the 3200 meters, Alex Smith was sixth, Neal Hulstein was 11th, and Cameron Waters was 21st.

The 4x100 team of Nick Alcutt, Ben Friedman, Enrico Shirvariandya, Yutao Wang, and Weiner finished 15th. The 4x400 team of Bergeron, John Kuehn, Oliwa, Waters, Weiner, and John Ziomek finished 13th.

The 4x800 team of Bergeron, Hulstein, Kuehn, Smith, Waters, and Ziomek finished sixth. Alcutt finished sixth in the pole vault and 11th in the javelin.
