Carolers Celebrate Christmas Tree Lighting at Rockville General
The Ellington High School Chorus sang Christmas carols to help celebrate the lighting of the tree at Rockville General Hospital
On a beautiful, warm December evening, the Rockville General Hospital Auxiliary held its annual Light of Life lighting ceremony and community carol sing-along in front of Rockville General Hospital on Monday.
Community members purchased lights in memory of a loved one, to honor a special person, event, or to celebrate those who cannot be home for the holidays.
The permanent tree was installed by use of the funds donated in honor of Marcel Cassavant, a longtime volunteer at the hospital.

"It used to be a tree that we would bring in, and then we planted a tree and it died, several times, but we finally have a tree that grows!" said Susan Mason with the Rockville General Hospital Auxiliary. "We started this is 1983, the money we raise from this goes directly back to the hospital."
Under the direction of Richard Diamond, the chorus led the singing of Christmas carols. They performed favorites, "Hark the Herald Angels Sing", "Deck the Halls", and "Silent Night."

The tree will remain lit throughout the holiday season.
