Asnuntuck Community College Graduates 40th Class

• The Class of 2013 was the 40th graduating class at the college, which was founded in 1972 and awarded its first degrees in 1974.
  
• A record 393 graduates received a total of 561 degrees and certificates.
• Friday marked the final graduation ceremony for college president Dr. Martha McLeod, who is retiring at the end of June.

McLeod told the graduates, "You are now commencing, beginning to face new challenges, new jobs, new adventures, and yes, new thought processes with the knowledge that yes, you can. That statement is the greatest gift that Asnuntuck can give to you. You have earned the right to say, "Yes I can!""

Christina Vernon received the Broken Paddle Award, Yeeyang Xiong was presented the Nelson Bordeau Award, and Tessla Donovan was chosen as recipient of the Distinguished Service Award.

The youngest graduate was 18 years old, while the oldest was 79.
