Somers High brought six wrestlers to the State Open Championships this past weekend at Hillhouse High School in New Haven.

106 Sophomore Christian Andrade

113 Junior Hunter Frasca

126 Senior Captain Nick Zachary

182 Stafford Senior Ethan Pace

195 Senior Captain Kyle Foster

220 Sophomore Adam Patsun

Somers placed 23rd out of 86 teams that scored points.

Zachary, Pace, Patsun and Foster all advanced to Saturday's day of competition.

195 Senior Kyle Foster wrestled into overtime in the Championship match and came out as runner-up.

We are very proud of our team. These young men wrestled their hearts out. It was a great weekend of wrestling, plenty of excitement and emotions.

We are looking forward to traveling with Kyle Foster to Providence, RI this coming weekend to support him during the New England Championships.
