Veterans Career Fair Tuesday at Asnuntuck

Sen. Blumenthal, Rep. Courtney and other officials to attend manufacturing technology event.

in Enfield is hosting a major Career Fair event for veterans on Tuesday, May 29 from 4-7:30 p.m.

The event is co-sponsored by U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, U.S. Rep. Joseph Courtney, CT Commission of Veterans’ Affairs, RCNGM, the Asnuntuck Community College Foundation, and area manufacturers.

The unique and sole objective of the Career Fair is to provide veterans and their families with the unique opportunity to explore higher education certificate and degree programs in advanced manufacturing.  The college will conduct tours and provide a series of employer-led discussions about careers in advanced manufacturing technology.

The college offers four excellent certificate and degree programs featuring CNC machining, welding with robotics, electronics, and electro-mechanical technologies. These are in-demand technologies, and more than 25 employers and service agencies will be in attendance to meet with veterans and their families.

Asnuntuck has been a leader in the past decade in providing for the employer community well-educated women and men for long-term, successful careers in the advanced manufacturing sector.  Asnuntuck enjoys relationships with more than 100 companies, including the Aerospace Components Manufacturers and Pratt & Whitney.

In addition to tours and discussion with private sector companies, Sen. Blumenthal, Rep. Courtney, and Commissioner of Veterans Affairs Linda Schwartz will talk briefly. ACC Foundation Chairperson Karen Jarmoc will emcee the event, and a buffet dinner will be served between 6-7 p.m.

Asnuntuck Community College is located at 170 Elm Street in Enfield.  For more information, contact Paul or Diane at (860) 253-3189 or by email at fgulluni@acc.commnet.edu.
