Sunday Alcohol Sales Bill Sees Mixed Reviews

In Ellington and Somers, some stores will be open, some will try it out, and some will remain closed.

With the passing of the , establishments will have the ability to sell alcohol on the once prohibited day – if they choose.

The feelings are mixed on this ability, with some stores eager to open, others willing to try it out, and others remaining closed.

The stores in Ellington and Somers are no different. will now be open on Sundays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. will be selling its beer until 1 p.m. on Sundays. will be open from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.

will be trying it out for a month or so, seeing how it goes. The store will be open from noon until 5 p.m. may be open for a couple hours this Sunday, but may not make it a habit to be open on Sundays.  is the same way.

"Right now, I do not plan on opening on Sunday or holidays as I enjoy my day off and I don't want to ask anyone else to give up their day off," owner Ken Braga said.
