State Holding Conference in Enfield on Incentive Programs for Employers

Do you own a business and want to learn about what state programs, tax credits or other opportunities you can utilize? Then you may want to attend this event on Oct. 23.

The below posting is a press release from the state Department of Labor.

North Central Connecticut employers are invited to attend the state’s Subsidized Training and Employment Program (Step Up) conference to learn about hiring incentive programs, tax credits and other opportunities that could benefit their businesses on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the American Legion Post 80 Hall, 566 Enfield Street, Enfield.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. for the 8 to 10:30 a.m. conference hosted by State Sen. John A. Kissel, State Rep. David Alexander and State Rep. David Kiner. The event is also sponsored by Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, Secretary of the State Denise Merrill, the Connecticut Department of Labor, the Department of Economic and Community Development, several of the state’s Workforce Investment Boards, UCONN, and other local community and business partners.

“We’re inviting every employer in North Central Connecticut to join us for this free conference because it brings all in one location, a wealth of information to small business owners interested in wage subsidies for hiring veterans, training grants, tax incentives for equipment purchases, and tax credits for hiring new employees,” notes State Labor Commissioner Sharon M. Palmer. “A variety of short presentations will provide an overview of the many opportunities and benefits available to your business, followed by the opportunity to visit the many information tables and meet one-on-one with individuals who work directly with the specific programs.”

Employers can find more information and register for the event by visiting the Labor Department’s Step Up website at www.StepCT.com. They can also contact Karen Quesnel in the Enfield CTWorks Career Center at (860) 899-3559, or atKaren.Quesnel@ct.gov.  For planning purposes, employers are asked to register for the conference by Oct. 21.
