Somers Rep. Thanks Veterans in Local Ceremony

Rep. Penny Bacchiochi thanked area veterans for their service during Stafford High assembly this week.

The below posting came from a press release.

STAFFORD — With Veterans Day on Monday, administrators and staff at Stafford High School ensured students knew the gravity of the upcoming holiday and provided an outlet for education about the servicemen and women in the U.S. military through an assembly on Friday.

A number of veterans from the greater Stafford community representing all branches of the military, from a number of different eras, met students and discussed their service. But most of all, the student body, staff, administrators and community dignitaries all honored the veterans.

“Our men and women give up so much to ensure our freedom,” said State Rep. Penny Bacchiochi (R-52), who attended Friday’s ceremony. “When we see these veterans and thank them for everything they’ve done, we need to remember exactly what they do – and what they sacrifice. From leaving loved ones months at a time to putting their lives on the line every day, our veterans went through so much to serve our country. The least we can do is thank them, and I’m humbled at their service.”

Rep. Bacchiochi, a member of the General Assembly’s Veterans Committee, met with veterans prior to the ceremony. The assembly featured Stafford-based men and women who detailed different aspects of military life, both domestically and abroad.
