Ellington, Somers Annual Budget Meetings on Tuesday

The annual town budget meetings for both Ellington and Somers will be held on Tuesday.

The meeting in Ellington will be held at 8 p.m. in the auditorium. In Somers, the meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.

The proposed overall budget in Ellington is $48,133,654, which is a $1,587,570 – or 3.41 percent – increase over the current budget. The education portion of the budget is $33,133,990, which is a $1,451,394 – or 4.58 percent – increase over the 2011-12 budget.

In Somers, the overall proposed town budget is for $29,241,201, which is a $986,679 – or 3.49 percent – increase. On the education side, the proposed budget is $19,827,174. This is a $492,857 – 2.55 percent – increase.
