East Windsor Resident To Seek House District 57 Seat

East Windsor Board of Finance Chairman Jason Bowsza, a Democrat, wants to challenge incumbent Republican Christopher Davis.

Jason Bowsza, an East Windsor Democrat, announced Friday he will seek election to the 57th House District seat consisting of Ellington and East Windsor.

“Public service has been a lifelong passion of mine, and in my five years on the East Windsor Board of Finance I’ve learned the importance of being able to work across party lines to solve the problems that we all face,” Bowsza said in a press release. “I also realize that many of our problems cannot be solved at the local level, but need to be taken up in Hartford. Unfortunately, Republicans in Hartford are engaged in some of the same partisan gamesmanship and gridlock that is being played in Washington, D.C., and too little time is being spent actually getting anything done. I want to change that.”

After earning a degree in political science from Sacred Heart University, Bowsza returned home and quickly involved himself in his community, the release said. He’s been involved in youth soccer, Rotary International and the East Windsor Board of Finance, serving most recently as board chairman.

“I think that the problems facing the state of Connecticut are too big for the same old partisan political games. They are bigger than Democrat and Republican,” Bowsza said. “We need to work together to move the state forward.  That’s the kind of leadership I will bring to Hartford.”

“I’ve known Jason for several years, and I’ve known him to be a conscientious, hard-working, civic minded individual who would be an asset to the House of Representatives, and would do a great job representing Ellington and East Windsor,” Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman said in a statement.

The seat is currently held by Christopher Davis, R-Ellington, who is in his first term.
