Democrats Nominate LeBeau For Re-Election

LeBeau, the Senate chairman of the Commerce Committee and deputy president pro tempore of the Senate, is seeking his ninth two-year term.

Democrats recently voted unanimously to nominate state Sen. Gary D. LeBeau to run for re-election in November.

LeBeau, Senate chairman of the Commerce Committee and deputy president pro tempore of the Senate, is seeking his ninth two-year term, representing the 3rd Senate District towns of East Hartford, South Windsor, East Windsor and Ellington.

State Rep. Jason Rojas of East Hartford, one of several convention delegates Monday who placed LeBeau’s name in nomination, praised LeBeau for his dedication and tireless work in the legislature, championing job creation, business development, education reform and other issues important to voters.

“Gary is consistently the lead legislator on promoting jobs, economic development and improving our business climate. As chair of the Commerce Committee, Gary has had a hand in shaping the state policy on economic development and job creation,” Rojas said. “He has advocated for a state commitment to the Groton area submarine base, which helped save it from the federal budget axe. He has helped shape and modify tax credits for job creation; he lead the effort on making major investments in biotechnology, stem cell research and alternative energies such as fuel cells.”
