Windsor Man, 43, Accused of Brutally Raping an 81-Year-Old Woman (updated 5 p.m.)

Alleged incident occurred in Windsor Locks

Windsor Locks police say former state trooper Jeffrey LaPorto, 43, of Windsor, is being held on $250,000 bond after being accused of sexually assaulting an 81-year-old woman.

The alleged incident occurred at a hotel early Friday. The woman suffered serious internal injuries, the Hartford Courant reports.

"This was a sickening crime and all efforts were made to apprehend Mr. Laporto, less than 24 hours from the commission of the crime," police Chief Eric Osanitsch said in a press release to the Hartford Courant

LaPorto has been charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault and unlawful restraint.

The Hartford Courant reports that at his arraignment Monday, a judge set bond at $250,000. LaPorto was fired from his job three years ago, said State Police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance to the Hartford Courant.
