Troop C Police Blotter - Week Ending Sept. 20, 2013

The latest arrests relating to Ellington, Somers and other surrounding towns.

Arrest information is furnished by the state police Troop C barracks and does not indicate a conviction. 

Somers


Sept. 11

Police arrested Spencer W. Taylor, 22, 659 Tinkham Road, Wilbraham, Mass., around 5 p.m. on Sept. 11.

According to a police report, Taylor had fled from a trooper in Somers earlier that evening and crashed his Zx600e Kawasaki motorcycle on Somers Road just near East Taylor Road in Enfield.


Taylor was arrested on charges of carrying a dangerous weapon, reckless driving, disobeying the signal of an officer, operating without a valid motorcycle license and making a restricted turn. He posted a $5,000 bond and is due in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 25.

Sept. 15

John Vamvilis, 47, 22 Polo View Drive, Somers, was charged with operating under the influence, operating a car without a license an driving in the left lane by a commercial vehicle on Sept. 15 on White Birch Circle in Somers. Vamvilis was held on a $10,000 surety bond.

Sept. 17

Jonathan Brin, 34, 408 Mountain Road, Somers, was charged with disorderly conduct in connection to an incident in the town of Union on June 30. Brin was taken into custody on Sept. 17 from his home in Somers and was released on a $2,500 bond. Brin is due in in Rockville Superior Court on Oct. 2.

Ellington

Sept. 13

Paul Russell, 34, 4 Cliff St., Ellington, was charged with a criminal violation of a protective order, risk of injury to a child and disorderly conduct on Sept. 12 after he was located in East Windsor. Russell was held on a total $12,500 surety bond and was scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 13.

Rosemary P. Connor, 40, 4 Cliff St., Ellington, was charged with risk of injury to a child and disorderly conduct on Sept. 13. Connor was held on a $2,500 bond and was due in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 13.

Brandon Bengston, 27, 9 Manhattan Road, Ellington, was charged with operating under the influence and violating a stop sign after police said he failed a field sobriety test on Sept. 12 around 10:30 p.m. Bengston was held on a $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 24.

Sept. 18

Kevin K. Knoff, 21, 24 West Road, Ellington, was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, fourth-degree criminal mischief and sixth-degree larceny after police investigated a reported burglary at 91 Conklin Road in Stafford. Police determined a DVD player, a lighter, Taser and a camera were stolen from the residence. Knoff was found to be in possession of the items, police said. He was held on a $5,000 cash bond and was scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 19.

Tolland

Sept. 13

Jennifer S. Owens, 31, 16 Orcuttville Road, Stafford Springs, was charged with driving under the influence and a failure to carry a license on Sept. 13 at the corner of Route 195 and Cider Mill Road in Tolland. Owens is due in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 23.

Sept. 14

Keith Sunthorn, 20, 32 Home Acres Ave., Milford, was charged with possession of alcohol in a motor vehicle by an underage person, operating under the influence and criminal impersonation on Route 195 in Tolland on Sept. 14.  Sunthorn was held on a $1,000 bond.

Omar Bhairo, 27, 46 Levesque Ave., West Hartford, was charged with operating under the influence, driving the wrong way on a divided highway and impropery entry after police said he got on the wrong way of I-84 at Exit 68 on Sept. 14. Bhairo later failed a field sobriety test, police said. Bhairo is due in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 30.

Vernon

Sept. 14

Jason M. St. Jean, 30, 171 South Main St., in Marlborough, was charged with reckless driving, operating under the influence and a failure to drive in a proper lane after police pulled him over the South Wilbur Cross Highway on Vernon on Sept. 14. St. Jean was held on a $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 30.

Sept. 17

Mark R. Reynolds, 34, 124 Hydeville Road, Stafford, was charged with second-degree failure to appear after he was located on Park Street in Vernon on Sept. 17. The charge stems from a failure to appear in court on March 22. Reynolds was held on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 30.

Mansfield

Sept. 10

Howard G. White, 38, of 102 Booth Bay St., Bloomfield was charged with driving under the influence after police said he failed a number of field sobriety tests following a motor vehicle stop on Route 32 in Mansfield on Sept. 10 around 12:30 a.m. He was held on a $2,000 bond and was due in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 10.

Sept. 11

Kaitlyn R. Walker, 19, of 45 Haven Ave., Windham, was charged with sixth-degree larceny after police responded to Mooyah Burgers on Dog Lane in Mansfield on July 24 for a reported complaint of a missing wallet. Police later determined Walker stole the wallet, a police report stated. She turned herself on Sept. 11 in after learning of a warrant for her arrest and posted a $500 non-surety bond. Walker is due in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 28.

Sept. 12

Mike Alexander, 24, 127 Route 6, Columbia, was charged with sixth-degree larceny on Sept. 12 in Mansfield. The charge stems from an incident on April 29. Alexander was taken from Corrigan Correctional Institute to Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 12.

Patrick T. Callis, 22, of 1614 36th Ave., Clear Lake, Calif, was charged with interfering with an officer and possession of marijuana on Sept. 12. Police investigated a two-car accident on South Frontage Road at the corner of Ash Street in Mansfield, which resulted in the following charges. Callis was held on a $5,000 cash bond and was due in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 12.

Gregory Krapf, 23, 14 Foster Drive, Windham, was charged with driving under the influence on Route 32 in Mansfield on Sept. 12. Krapf is due in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 24.

Sept. 13

Duane E. Akins, 41, 220 Valley St., and Anthony Maskell, 37, 20 North St., both of Willimantic, were both charged with sixth-degree larceny on Sept. 13 after police investigated a shoplifting incident at Kohl’s in Mansfield around 1:30 p.m. The pair of suspects were located in the McDonald’s parking lot just north of the department store. They were each held on $1,000 bonds and were due in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 16.

Wonseok Park, 21, of 38 Cheney Drive in Mansfield, was charged with driving under the influence and making an improper turn on Sept. 13 on Cheney Drive in Mansfield. Park was held on a $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 24.

Sept. 15

Police in Mansfield said Kyle Scott Chichowicz, 21, of 140 Wolfpit Ave., Norwalk, was involved in a domestic incident on Sept. 15 at 829 Stafford Road in Mansfield.

Chichowicz was accused of possessing a firearm and was not letting people leave the home.

He was charged with possession of an assault weapon, carrying a firearm while under the influence, disorderly conduct and second-degree unlawful restraint. Chichowicz was held on a $7,500 bond and was scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 16.

Jose Miguel Padila-Bautista, 26, 456 Windham Road, and Jose Pulido-Morales, 299 Main St., Apt. 2, both of Willimantic, were both charged with sixth-degree larceny on Sept. 15 after police investigated a shoplifting incident at Kohl’s on East Brook Mall in Mansfield. The two were released on promises to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 30.

Sept. 18

John J. Trudeau, 45, 753 Storrs Road, Storrs, was charged with disorderly conduct on Sept 18 in Mansfield. He was released on a $500 non-surety bond and was scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court that day.
