Somers Man Injured in East Windsor Crash

Edward Kutz was taken to the hospital by LifeStar after an early morning motorcycle crash. A local man found the injured biker as he passed by.

A 27-year-old Somers man was listed in critical condition at Hartford Hospital after an early Saturday morning motorcycle accident.

East Windsor police received a call at 6:17 a.m. that a motorcycle was down and off to the side of road on Broad Brook Road. The operator, Edward Kutz, was taken to Hartford Hospital by LifeStar helicopter, police said.

Justin Warren, formerly of Ellington, was driving to work and saw the motorcycle in the grass. He thought he should turn around and take a closer look and when he did, he saw the man lying unconscious, unresponsive, and with a gash in his forehead.

Warren called it in and then waited for first responders to arrive. He normally gets to work around 7:30 a.m. on Saturdays, but promised to take his family fishing in the afternoon, so he planned to get there at 6:30 a.m. instead so that he could get out a bit earlier.

The road was shut for about 3 hours while Metro Traffic Services assisted in the accident investigation. Anyone who has any information about the accident is asked to call Officer James Aspessi of the East Windsor Police Department at 860-292-8240.
