Somers Fire Department Presented with Check from Chili Cook Off

Michael Freedman gave the department a check for $9,353.93, and said there will be more coming.

On Monday evening, organizer presented the with a check for $9,353,93.

Freedman told the firefighters that he is not done collecting money yet, so they should be prepared to receive more.

“On behalf of the International Chili Society, all of our sponsors, and all of our cooks, I am so proud to present a check to you guys for $9,353.93,” he said. “Not bad for a little chili cook off, huh?”

Freedman thanked the firefighters for everything they did during the two-day event and told them he looks forward to working with them again next year.

He also mentioned how it had been his dream for many years to bring a back to Somers, and that this year, the cook off raised close to $30,000.
