Several Cars Broken Into in Ellington

On the night of July 4, and into the morning of July 5, unlocked cars in the northern section of town were gone through.

According to Patrick Sweeney, on the night of July 4, and into the morning of July 5, approximately 10 cars in the northern secion of town were gone through.

Sweeney noted that all of the cars were unlocked.

The area of the “berry” streets - Elderberry, Blueberry, Strawberry, Cranberry, etc. - was targeted, he said. On June 24, a similar incident was reported on Shepard Way, on the other side of town near the rotary.

Sweeney said that this is more activity of this nature than normal and has some advice for how to protect yourself and your items.

“Our suggestion to everyone is that all valuables should be placed out of sight in your vehicle or brought into the home overnight,” he said. “The cars should also be locked. Residents should not make it easy for access into the vehicles.”
