Residents Capture Somersville Mill Fire in Video, Photos

Several people have shared their videos of the blaze that destroyed the historic Somersville Manufacturing Co. mill Saturday morning.

As a spectacular fire ravaged the historic Somersville Manufacturing Co. mill along the Scantic River, several residents who weren't fighting the blaze took out their smart phones and cameras and captured what they witnessed.

Fire personnel from Tolland and Hartford counties responded to the fire at 40 Maple St. just after 2 a.m. on Saturday. The 4-story mill built in 1860 was already fully engulfed by the time the first trucks arrived at the scene, .

Within hours of the fire, people had uploaded their videos and pictures to a variety of social media platforms, from Facebook to YouTube.
