Police Investigating Several Somers Burglaries

The residential burglaries took place on Tuesday afternoon.

State police from Troop C, including members of the Somers Resident State Trooper’s Office and the Stafford Resident Trooper’s Office, are investigating several residential burglaries that took place on Tuesday in Somers.

According to police, the burglaries occurred between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. and the homes that were broken into were unoccupied at the time the perpetrator forced entry into the buildings.

The burglaries occurred on Hall Hill Road, Colorado Drive, and Pomeroy Lane.
Police said that it is common for burglars to approach a residence and knock on the door to determine if anyone is home. If confronted with a homeowner, they will make an excuse for being there and leave quickly.

They added that sometimes, the burglar will just walk away without saying anything.

The police said that unfortunately, these suspicious encounters do not always get reported to the police because people can’t identify the exact vehicle or they are afraid they can’t identify the stranger who approached their home.

Police said that oftentimes, these cases are solved by getting small pieces of information from various people and putting it all together. Because of this, police are urging residents in these neighborhoods to contact police about any suspicious activity that occurred on Tuesday around the time of these burglaries.

Anyone who lives in the area and has ANY information is asked to call the Somers Resident State Trooper’s Office directly at 860-749-4955.
