PD: Ellington Man Drove 132mph on I-84

Gary Cote was arrested Thursday on a charge of reckless driving.

For the second time in just over a month, the Connecticut State Police have arrested someone accused of going twice the legal speed limit on I-84.

Police pulled over Gary D. Cote, 22, of 57 Middle Road in Ellington, near the Exit 69 on-ramp on I-84 eastbound in Tolland on Nov. 21 around 12:30 p.m.

According to a police report, a trooper was parked on the ramp and, utilizing a laser, was conducting motor vehicle enforcement.

Police said the trooper caught Cote driving 132 mph on a highway, which has a posted speed limit of 65 mph.

Cote was taken into custody and held on a $2,500 bond. He was due in Rockville Superior Court on Friday, Nov. 22.

On Oct. 14, police arrested another person, Yao Wen Wu, 23, of Long Island City, driving 130 mph.
