Motorcycle Crash Claims Life of Enfield Man

Robert Kegler, 61, was riding on Maple Street in Ellington when he was involved in a three vehicle accident.

A little before 9 p.m. on Sunday, a 61-year-old Enfield man was involved in a and was later pronounced dead.

According to Connecticut State Police, Robert Kegler, of 67 Weymouth School Rd., was traveling eastbound on Maple Street when his motorcycle made contact with two other vehicles. Kegler was taken to St. Francis Hospital via LifeStar helicopter where he later died.

A van being driven by a 23-year-old Enfield woman was traveling westbound on Maple Street, approaching the intersection with Tomoka Avenue and Jobs Hill Road. A pickup truck being driven by a 17-year-old South Windsor man was also on Maple Street, directly in front of the van.

The driver of the truck entered the intersection and attempted to make a left hand turn onto Tomoka Avenue. This is when Kegler’s motorcycle collided with the right side of the truck. Kegler was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in the roadway. He was then treated by and transported to St. Francis hospital via LifeStar.

No one else was injured in this collision.

The van was removed from the scene by its operator, the motorcycle was removed by , and the truck was removed by .
