Inmate Dies After Assault at Osborn Correctional Institution

David Dube was attacked by another inmate and was pronounced dead at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

An inmate at has been pronounced dead at Yale-New Haven Hospital after he was attacked at the prison.

Connecticut State Police said that David Dube, 60, with a last known address of Madison Street in Hartford, was transported to the  on Thursday where he was treated. His condition worsened and he was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

On Thursday at approximately 9:33 p.m., State Police Troop C was notified by Correctional Officials at Osborn regarding an assault that had occurred at the correctional facility.

Correctional officials reported that an inmate had been assaulted by a fellow inmate in the main hallway of the facility. Police said that Dube lost consciousness briefly but regained consciousness while still at the facility.

The assault scene at the facility was secured by correctional officers. Connecticut State Police Major Crime detectives and troopers responded to the prison to conduct the criminal investigation into this incident, and it remains under investigation.    

The Office of the Chief State’s Medical Examiner will conduct a postmortem review on Dube, who was pronounced dead on Friday afternoon, to determine the cause and manner of death.
