Firefighters Take a Walk on Mall Roof

Report of gas leak proves to be false alarm.

ENFIELD -- Public safety officials on Sunday responded to a report of a gas leak at Enfield Square Mall, but after a walk-around on the roof, nothing major was uncovered.

Police, an emergency medical crew and a ladder truck from the Thompsonville Fire Department were dispatched the the mall on Elm Street just before 3 p.m. Fire officials said the initial call was about a potential gas leak.

With the ladder extended to the mall roof, fire officials inspected an area between Radio Shack and the Macy's men/home store.

Fire officials said no leaks were located.

A Yankee Gas crew also assisted with the inspection.
