Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: Jan. 13-Jan. 19

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of Jan. 20, 2011. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Jan. 13

Kevin M. Bowman, of 25 Pinnacle Rd., Ellington, was traveling northbound on West Road when the vehicle driven by Lindsay E. Riggs, of 8 Brookview Drive, Vernon, entered the roadway from Meadowview Plaza and collided with him. Both drivers sustained injuries and were transported to Rockville General Hospital by Ellington Ambulance. Bowman's vehicle sustained moderate damage while Riggs' vehicle sustained heavy damage.

Eugene Rysavage, 42,  of 5 Farmstead Lane, Ellington, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, having an obstructed license plate and failure to carry a license when his vehicle was stopped on Windermere Avenue in Ellington for having an obstructed plate. Officers smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverage and noticed slurred speech. Rysavage failed standard sobriety tests and was placed under arrest without incident. 

Joshua L. McNeal, 26, of 17 Lawrence St., Vernon, was arrested for driving while intoxicated after being stopped in Ellington. McNeal was traveling southbound on Route 83 and took a left on Middle Butcher Road, where the officer noticed his vehicle in the center of the road. When McNeal approached the stop sign at Ellington Avenue he went through it without stopping. McNeal was stopped and tested and was then arrested for DWI.

Jan. 15

Matthew C. Santaniello, 24, of 14 Eleanor Road, Enfield, was arrested for third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree breach of peace after troopers were dispatched to Bar located at 124 Main Street in Somers for a report of a disturbance. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Santaniello.

Jan. 16

Daniel D. Roessler, 20, of 5 Lafayette Lane, Somers, was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Somers. While investigating a disabled motor vehicle on Watchaug Road, Roessler was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was given a series of field sobriety tests that he failed and at which point he was arrested. Roessler was also charged with failure to carry certificate of registration/insurance identification, failure to carry a license, insurance coverage that fails minimum requirements and traveling unreasonably fast/fast for conditions.

Jan. 17

Between 7:15 p.m. on Jan. 16 and 5:15 a.m. on Jan. 17, the front door was broken at the at 99 Stafford Road in Ellington. No entry was made to the business. The case is under investigation.

John R. White, 21, of 98 West Road, Ellington, turned himself in at Troop C in Tolland on an active arrest warrant and charged with second-degree sexual assault and injury or risk of injury/impairing the morals of a child.
