Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: April 5-April 11

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of April 12, 2013. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

April 5

Mitchell Cobb, 19, of 5 Quarterhorse Dr. in Ellingon, and a 17-year-old male were arrested after an investigation of two suspicious males in the neighborhood on Snipsic Street in Ellington. Both were transported to the Troop C barracks and processed. Cobb was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to use with a cannabis substance, illegal sale of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and weapons in vehicles. The juvenile was charged with drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. Cobb was released on $20,000 cash/surety bond pending his appearance at Rockville Superior Court on April 22. 

April 9

Kevin M. Dinsdale, 36, of 22 Elizabeth St. in Ellington, was arrested after an investigation of a reported one-vehicle collision on the I-84 eastbound exit 73 off-ramp in Union. During the course of the investigation, reasonable suspicion was developed as to the Dinsdale’s impairment. He was subjected to a series of standardized field sobriety tests at the scene that he failed, and was further subjected to an in-custody arrest. Dinsdale was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, failure to maintain lane, and driving the wrong direction on a divided highway. He was later released from custody on a $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on April 29.

Jeffrey Ellis, 52, of 358 Park St. Mannor Apt. 102 in Springfield, was taken into custody and presented at Rockville Superior Court without incident. He was charged with evading responsibility with a motor vehicle and mandatory security requirements.

April 10 

A 69-year-old Ellington woman was traveling in the right lane on I-84 eastbound, prior to exit 68 in Tolland. A 59-year-old New Jersey woman was traveling the same direction in the center lane. The New Jersey woman attempted to change lanes to the right and struck the Ellington woman, causing the Ellington woman's vehicle to spin out and flip onto its roof. Minor injuries were reported by the New Jersey woman. The Ellington woman was transported to Hartford Hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported during this accident.

April 11

At approximately 4 a.m., Connecticut State Police Troop C responded to a residential alarm on Springfield Road in Somers. Upon investigation, it was determined that the residence was entered forcefully. A Connecticut State Police K-9 was utilized for a track of the suspects. It was then determined that an unknown vehicle was used by the suspect in the area between 3:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. Anyone with any information regarding this investigation may call Trooper Laird at 896-3200 ext. 8017. This is an active investigation.
