Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: April 26-May 2

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of May 3, 2013. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

April 26

Zachary Doyon, 19, of 302 Jobs Hill Rd. in Ellington, was arrested after troopers were dispatched to the area of Brook Crossing in Ellington for the report of a possible under age party in an undeveloped wooded area off the roadway. An investigation immediately revealed Doyon in possession of alcohol. Further investigation revealed that he was in possession of a scale, drug paraphernalia and less than four ounces of suspected marijuana that was packed for sale. Doyon was taken into custody and charged with possession of alcohol by a minor, possession of marijuana with the intent to sell, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal manufacture, sale of marijuana. Two other persons at the party were issued infractions for possession of alcohol by a minor and released at the scene.  

Fahim Shabazz, 40, was transported from Northern Correctional Institution to Rockville Superior Court so that an active arrest warrant could be served. He was placed under arrest for assault on a public safety officer. Shabazz was processed and held on a $2,500 cash or surety bond. He refused to sign his Notice of Rights and refused to be fingerprinted. Shabazz was then turned back over to the state marshals to be presented to the court.  

At approximately 2:56 a.m., Troop C receive a phone call of a complainant that their vehicle was stolen from their residence on Rose Haven Road in Somers. Upon investigation of the incident, it was determined that the vehicle was taken from the residence between 2:50 a.m. and 2:56 a.m. The accused is described as being a Hispanic male, approximately 5’6,” light skin complexion, skinny build, with dark short hair. Four teens were arrested after they were found to be trespassing on Soapstone Road in Somers (Connecticut state park/after hours). Two motor vehicle stops were conducted on this roadway and Zachary Wilcox, 18, of 2 Lancer Dr. in Enfield, was arrested after refusing to comply with police. Wilcox was charged with interfering with police and simple trespass. Alex Violette, 18, of 50 Gamy Ter. in Enfield, was charged with simple trespass, and Konnor Conley, 18, 190 Brainard Rd. in Enfield, was charged with simple trespass, possession of marijuana and possession of alcohol by a minor. A 16-year-old juvenile was also charged with simple trespass.

April 29

Three men were taken into custody after a verbal altercation escalated into a physical altercation. The incident began between John J. Cahill, 59, of 123 Meadowbrook Rd. in Ellington, and Chester M. Stewart, 49, of 90 Montauk Rd. in Vernon. Russel G. Maharan, 27, of 123 Meadowbrook Rd. in Ellington, subsequently intervened in the altercation while in possession of a dangerous weapon. There were no injuries. All were transported to Troop C where they were processed and released on bond with a court date of May 15 at Rockville Superior Court.  

April 30

Christopher Emanuele, 28, of 36 Grant St. in Vernon, was arrested after troopers were dispatched to 110 Shenipsit St. in Ellington for a motor vehicle into a pole. Subsequent investigation revealed the vehicle was occupied by three people. Each occupant was transported to Rockville General Hospital for minor injuries. Emanuele was put through standardized field sobriety tests which he failed. He was taken into custody and charged with DWI, traveling too fast, and failure to obey a stop sign.
