Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: Oct. 5-Oct. 11

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of Oct. 12, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Oct. 7

Cody M. Violette, 20, of 21 Fairview Ave. in Ellington, was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol. A vehicle in front of him was traveling northbound on West Road and came to a stop at the intersection with Main Street in Ellington. Violette was traveling behind the vehicle and rear ended it. He was later arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol. Both vehicles were towed by Lee's Auto due to damage. No injuries reported as a result of the collision. 

A 23-year-old Ellington man was traveling westbound on Middle Road when he struck mailbox and evaded from scene.

Oct. 8

Nicole C. Fissette, 19, of 74 Main St. Apt. C in Somers, was arrested at her residence after a physical confrontation with her ex-boyfriend. The accused scratched the victim after a verbal incident outside the residence. She was charged with disorderly conduct and third-degree assault. 

Oct. 9

Robert P. Zikus, 38, of 22 West St. Apt. 5 in Stafford, was charged with failure to drive right and evading responsibility after troopers investigated a reported one-vehicle versus fixed object collision which occurred on Main Street in Somers. Subsequent investigation led to the in-custody arrest of Zikus. He was later released from custody on a $500 non-surety bond.

Oct. 10

Michael Goodridge, 56, of 399 East St. in Stafford, was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and traveling too fast for conditions. His vehicle was traveling south on Stafford Road in Somers when he lost control on the wet roadway, causing his scooter to slide on the roadway. Goodridge received minor injuries and was transported to Johnson Memorial Hospital. 

A 68-year-old Stafford Springs man was traveling southbound White Road in Ellington and a 33-year-old Ellington woman was walking along the right shoulder. The mirror of the vehicle struck the left shoulder of the woman, causing shoulder pain and numbness. The man evaded from the scene.

A 17-year-old Ellington man had just departed a business near the intersection of Main Street and was traveling northbound on Somers Road when he lost control of the vehicle on the wet roadway. The vehicle spun around, crossed the southbound lane, and struck a tree off the southbound shoulder. The vehicle sustained minor damage and the man was not injured.
