Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: Oct. 21-Oct. 27

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of Oct. 28, 2011. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Oct. 21

Patricia L. Slocum, 44, of 8 Horseshoe Ln. in Somers was arrested after a trooper conducted a traffic stop on Route 83 at Route 190 for observed motor vehicle violations. The traffic stop subsequently led to the in-custody arrest of Slocum for driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs and failure to maintain proper lane. Slocum was released on a $500 non-surety bond with a court date of Nov. 15.

A Broad Brook woman was traveling southbound on Somers Road in Ellington when a pedestrian, a 25-year-old Vernon man, ran into the roadway and ran into the passenger’s side of her car. The pedestrian was transported to Rockville General Hospital by for evaluation of any possible injuries. The woman was uninjured and her vehicle sustained minor damage. 

Wayne Schwartz, 47, and Cheryl Scott, 51, both of 159 Pinney St. Apt. 37 in Ellington were charged with third degree identity theft, criminal impersonation, and conspiracy (felony - class D). State police were summoned to the for a report of identity theft. Through an active investigation, it was determined that Schwartz and Scott had falsely possessed a personal gift catalog from a community trash bin and later used the victim’s personal information to order various items for themselves, while impersonating the victim. They were subsequently arrested and provided a court appearance date of Nov. 7.

Oct. 23

A 17-year-old East Longmeadow woman was traveling northbound on Pinney Road in Somers when she had some sort of medical issue. She travelled from the northbound lane and into a large field located to the east of Pinney Road. She and a passenger, a 16-year-old East Longmeadow woman, was transported to Johnson Memorial Hospital for evaluation of pain. Two other passengers, a 14-year-old East Longmeadow girl and a 16-year-old Enfield woman, were not taken to the hospital. 

Oct. 25

Peter Hennessy, 27, of 23 Colonial Ave. in Enfield was transported from Hartford Correctional Center to Rockville Superior Court so that an active arrest warrant could be served. The trooper placed Hennessy under arrest on an active arrest warrant issued by Rockville Superior Court for third degree burglary and third degree larceny, stemming from an incident on Mountain View Road in Somers. Hennessy was processed and held on a $5,000 bond set by the court. He was then turned back over to the State Marshals to be presented to the court.

An Enfield woman was stopped at a red traffic light on Maple Street in Somers as a tractor trailer was on Route 190 attempting a turn onto Maple street. The tractor trailer driver, a Winsted man, under the supervision of his instructor, a Broad Brook man, made an improper turn and the trailer impacted the hood and windshield of the woman's vehicle. No injuries were reported. The tractor trailer is owned by in Somers. 

Oct. 26

Michael Graham, 21, of 172 Windsorville Rd. in East Windsor was arrested for second degree failure to appear. While investigating a reported disturbance in Somers, it was discovered that Graham had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody and was transported to Troop C in Tolland where he was processed. He was held on a $4,000 court set bond.

Lisa Collins, 43, of 224 West Main St. in Vernon was charged with sixth degree larceny: shoplifting after a trooper was dispatched to the store located at 175 West Rd. in Ellington for a reported shoplifter. Upon arrival, the trooper placed Collins into custody for attempting to take items from the store. She was processed without incident at Troop C in Tolland and was held on a $500 cash bond.
