Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: Oct. 12-Oct. 18

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of Oct. 19, 2012.

Oct. 15

Jamar Burgess, 31, of 113 Robbins Ave. in Ewing, NJ, was transported from Northern Correctional Institution to Rockville Superior Court so that an active arrest warrant could be served. Burgess was placed under arrest on an active arrest warrant issued by the court for the charge of fugitive from justice. He was processed and held on a $50,000 bond set by the court. He was then turned back over to the state marshals to be presented to the court on the charge.

Oct. 18

Rafael Ortiz, 35, was transported from Osborn Correctional Institution to Rockville Superior Court so that an active arrest warrant could be served. Ortiz was placed under arrest on an active arrest warrant issued by the court for the charge of fugitive from justice. He was processed and held on a $150,000 bond set by the court. He was then turned back over to the state marshals to be presented to the court on the charge.

John M. Witkiewicz, 24, of 144 Pinney Rd. in Somers, was stopped on Route 190 in Stafford for several motor vehicle violations. Subsequent investigation revealed that he was in possession of marijuana. Witkiewicz was charged with failure to have headlamps and possession of a controlled substance. He was cited without incident.

Jose A. Saenz, 42, of 880 Belmont Ave. in Springfield, MA, voluntarily turned himself in to Troop C after learning of an active arrest warrant regarding a domestic dispute that occurred on Oct. 13 in the town of Somers. He was processed and held at Troop C on a $10,000 bond issued by Rockville Superior Court. He was charged with disorderly conduct and third-degree assault.
