Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: Nov. 30-Dec. 6

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of Dec. 7, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Dec. 3

An unidentified 14-year-old Ellington resident was arrested and charged in with disorderly conduct and third-degree assault after a physical altercation. The 14-year-old is not identified because he or she is a juvenile.

The Ellington Resident State Trooper's Office is investigating the theft of a dirt bike from a barn located at 72 Frog Hollow Road.

Police responded to a minor two-car accident on Somers Road in Ellington that caused minimal damage to the vehicles and during which the drivers were not injured. According to police, a 2008 Honda Civic driven by Debbie A. Possart, 48, of Ellington, was stopped on the north bound side of the road waiting to take a left hand turn onto Maple Street when a 2003 Ford Taurus driven by Jenny M. Benvenuto, 75, of Enfield rear ended the Honda. Neither woman has been cited in the accident.

Dec. 5

Thomas Wojcik, a prisoner at the Northern Correctional Institution in Somers, was arrested and charged with second-degree threatening and held on a $20,000 bond before being transported back to the prison.

A 23-year-old Stafford Springs resident was not injured when the 2005 Ford Freestar he was driving struck a tree on Tolland Turnpike after the driver swerved to avoid a deer. Although Giovanni Gonzalez was not injured in the accident, the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

State Police are investigating the theft of electronics from an unlocked vehicle parked at 12 Ridge Road in Ellington.

State Police are investigating an incident that occurred at Ellington High School involving several juvenile students. No further details have been made available.

Dec. 6

State Police responded to a call for a reported domestic incident on Quality Avenue in Somers. When they arrive they were able to speak with the female caller, but the male alleged to have been involved in the incident could not be found. Police have drafted an arrest warrant and have presented it for consideration.
