Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: Nov. 2-Nov. 8

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of Nov. 9, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Nov. 3

An 80-year-old Ellington man was traveling northbound on Pinney Street in Ellington when he inadvertently veered to the right off the right shoulder and struck a mailbox, causing damage to the mailbox. There were no injuries and he was charged with making an improper turn.  

Frank A. Burnett, 45, of 31 Glenwood Rd. in Ellington, was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct after a domestic violence incident involving his step-daughter at his residence. No injuries were reported.

Gabrielle Rene Baker, 25, of 212 South Rd. in Somers, was traveling northbound in the area of 140 Gulf Road in Somers. While negotiating a curve in the roadway, the vehicle entered into an uncontrolled skid, crossed over the opposing travel lane, and entered onto the right shoulder of the southbound travel lane where the collided with an embankment. The vehicle entered into a rollover maneuver prior to coming to a final rest position in the southbound travel lane and facing generally southwest in direction. Baker reported no injures at the scene and was observed outside vehicle upon police arrival. She was subjected to an in-custody arrest for failure to drive right and driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. She was held on a $500 non-surety bond with a court date set for Nov. 21 at Rockville Superior Court.

Nov. 7

During the early morning hours of Nov. 7, several locked and unlocked vehicles were entered and items were stolen at the Johnny Appleseed Apartment Complex in Ellington. Two vehicles were damaged by forced entry through a window. Anyone that observed any suspicious activity is asked to contact the Ellington Resident State Troopers’ Office at 860-875-1522.

A 37-year-old Hartford man was traveling westbound on Main Street in Ellington when he lost control of his vehicle on the snow covered roadway. The vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway and over the curb, striking a support wire on a telephone pole damaging the transformer. No injuries were reported.  

An 18-year-old Ellington man was traveling southbound on Hoffman Road at the intersection with Meadow Brook Road in Ellington when he lost control on the snow covered road, slid through the intersection, and through a wood fence off the eastbound shoulder of Meadow Brook Road.
