Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: March 9-March 15

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of March 16, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

March 10

Paul A. Russell, 48, of 5 Cantlewood Dr. in Somers, was charged after he was observed operating his vehicle erratically on Route 32 in Willington. Upon further investigation, it was learned that Russell was under the influence and was subsequently taken into custody without incident. He was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and failure to drive right.

Hector Rivera, 45, of 52.5 Putnam St. in Hartford, was located and found to have an active arrest warrant for an incident that occurred on Main Street in Somers on July 28, 2010. Rivera was arrested and processed without incident. He was charged with third-degree conspiracy to commit burglary, first-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, and third-degree accessory to burglary. His bond was set at $80,000 and raised to $100,000.

Troop C is investigating a burglary that occurred on Denison Road in Somers. An unknown person, or persons, entered a detached garage/barn and took two chainsaws, then rummaged through several vehicles on the property, taking a laptop computer, radar detector and various tools. A male who was approximately six feet tall, wearing dark-colored pants and a dark-colored “hoodie” sweatshirt with a white stripe that ran from the hood down the back of the sweatshirt, was seen in the area during the time in which the crime took place.
