Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: March 30-April 5

March 30

Troop C is investigating damage to the main office of . The damage occurred sometime between the hours of 4 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. on March 29-30.  

April 1

The business was the victim of a burglary in which several valuable items were stolen. The State Police responded to the victim’s address to investigate a burglary. This incident is currently under investigation.

James Joseph Levasseur, 30, of 53 Ward St. Apt. 3 in Vernon, was arrested after a lengthy investigation involving numerous home and vehicle burglaries in Tolland County and the surrounding communities. Levasseur was placed under arrest without incident at his residence in the town of Vernon. This arrest was the result of the investigative efforts of several law enforcement agencies to include the resident trooper’s offices in the towns of Ellington, Somers, and Stafford. As a direct result of this investigation, several thousands of dollars wroth of stolen items were recovered. Through the investigative efforts of the Connecticut state troopers assigned to the resident troopers offices in the towns of Ellington, Somers, and Stafford, numerous arrest warrant applications were completed for Levasseur. Levasseur was held on multiple cash bonds set by the court. Further investigations are forthcoming and additional arrests are pending regarding Levasseur. He was charged with third-degree burglary (8 counts), third-degree larceny, fourth-degree larceny (2 counts), conspiracy to steal a firearm, fifth-degree larceny, sixth-degree larceny, and third-degree criminal mischief (3 counts).

April 4

A 51-year-old Somers man was traveling southbound on 9th District Road approximately half of a mile south of Billings Road in Somers. The vehicle entered onto the soft shoulder of the southbound travel lane and collided with a wire guardrail and a tree prior to coming to a final rest position. The man was reported to be wearing a safety belt at the time of the collision. He reported no injuries at the scene and was observed outside the vehicle upon the trooper's arrival at the scene. The man was issued a written warning for failure to maintain lane. 

April 5

Michael Anthony Maston, 30, of 10 Morrison St. in Vernon, was transported from Hartford Correctional Center to Rockville Superior Court so that an active arrest warrant could be served. Maston was placed under arrest on an active arrest warrant issued by Rockville Superior Court for an incident on Webster Road in Ellington. Maston was charged with third-degree burglary, fifth-degree larceny, stealing a firearm, and second-degree criminal mischief.
