Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: March 2-March 8

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of March 9, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

March 2

A farm tractor and trailer (manure spreader) was traveling south on Hoffman Road in Ellington and a 19-year-old Ellington man was traveling behind the spreader on Hoffman Road. The man subsequently struck the rear of the spreader. He was transported to Hartford Hospital by for treatment of his injuries from this accident. No other injuries were reported.

As a result of a burglary investigation on Four Bridges Road in Somers, a 16-year-old male was arrested. He was charged with drug paraphernalia, second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, third-degree larceny, and possession of less that one-half ounce.

While working behind a business located at 77 Meadow Brook Road in Ellington, a male party unloading items from a pickup truck observed that the vehicle started rolling backward. The male attempted to stop the vehicle from rolling. While doing so, he slipped in the mud and fell underneath the vehicle. The left rear wheel of the vehicle then . The man was transported to Hartford Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. He was treated and released after evaluation.  

Timothy Kolaczenko, 21, of 37 Broadleaf Ln. in Enfield, was charged after a motor vehicle stop on Route 83 in Ellington. He was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, was subjected to a series of field sobriety tests that he failed, and was arrested. Kolaczenko was transported to Troop C in Tolland where he was processed according to state police policy. He was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol, and failure to drive right. Kolaczenko was held on a $500 cash/surety bond and later released. 

March 8

Philip M. Szabo, 19, of 79 Pond Cir. in Somers, was transported from Hartford Correctional Center to Rockville Superior Court so that an active arrest warrant could be served. He was placed under arrest on an active arrest warrant issued by Rockville Superior Court for third-degree larceny. Szabo was processed and held on a $10,000 bond set by the court. He was then turned back over to the state marshals to be presented to the court on the charge.
