Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: March 16-March 22

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of March 23, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

March 16

A 20-year-old South Windsor woman was traveling eastbound on Wapping Wood Road in Ellington and had entered the rotary to proceed northbound on Pinney Street. A 41-year-old Rockville man was traveling westbound on Windsorville Road and had begun to enter the rotary to continue westbound on Windsorville Road. The man failed to yield the right of way to the woman and proceeded into the path of her vehicle, resulting in the collision. There were no injuries and minor damage was done to both vehicles. The man was charged with failure to grant the right of way at a rotary.  

March 17

A motorcycle was traveling south on Route 83 in the area of Four Bridges Road in Somers, and a car was traveling north on Route 83 in the area of Four Bridges Road in Somers. The car attempted to turn left onto Four Bridges Road and turned in to the . Serious injuries were reported at the scene by the operator and passenger of the motorcycle - Kenneth Bregoli, 59, of West Springfield, and Debra Hiller, 48, of East Longmeadow. The two parties were transported to Johnson Memorial Hospital by AMR and and were subsequently sent to Hartford Hospital via LifeStar. No injury was reported by the car's operator - Margaret T. Patterson, 84, of Enfield, at the scene. The accident is still under investigation by Troop C at this time. 

Kaseyleigh Elizabeth Sullivan, 24, of 171 Stafford Rd., Apt. 3 in Stafford, turned herself in at the Troop C barracks on an outstanding warrant for her arrest for an incident on Crane Road in Ellington. Sullivan was processed, released, and assigned a court date of March 27 at Rockville Superior Court to answer the charge of third-degree larceny.

Today it was reported by a homeowner on Snipsic Lake Road in Ellington that sometime between July 2011 and March 17, 2012, entry was made into his unlocked residence and a handgun and an engagement ring were taken. Approximate value of items taken is $2,375. It is unknown over the last eight months when the items were taken from the unlocked residence, but the homeowner just happened to notice them missing last night, March 16, 2012.  

March 18

Kyle W. Shermer, 21, of 725 Main St. in Middletown was charged after a motor vehicle stop on Hall Hill Road - near Applewood Drive - in Somers. During the course of a motor vehicle stop, Shermer was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, was subjected to a series of field sobriety tests that he failed, and was arrested. He was transported to Troop C in Tolland where he was processed according to state police policy. Shermer was charged with failure to wear a seatbelt in the front seat, operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol, and improper parking. He was held on a $500 cash-surety bond and later released.

March 19

Troop C is investigating the theft of a 2003 Suzuki LTZ 400 ATV, color yellow. The ATV was taken from behind a residence on Main Street in Ellington during the overnight hours. The ATV was pushed/driven to the area of Olde Farm Road and Country Farm Lane. The ATV has large black “S” symbols on the fuel tank, the rims and handlebars are black, and there is a small red sticker on the left front fender. Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to contact the at 860-875-1522. 

March 21

A woman was stopped, attempting to make a left hand turn into a driveway. A 54-year-old Enfield man, Denis Boucher, was traveling northbound on Shaker Road traveling at an unknown speed. Boucher then struck the rear-end of the woman's vehicle. Boucher left the scene and travelled to his residence in Enfield prior to state police arriving at the accident. He later at his residence, not as a result of the motor vehicle accident. The accident is under investigation by Trooper Mazza. 

Daniel M. Cook, 26, of 239 North Main St. in Manchester, was transported from to Rockville Superior Court so that an active arrest warrant could be served. A trooper placed Cook under arrest on an active arrest warrant issued by Rockville Superior Court for second-degree threatening. Cook was processed and held on a $50,000 bond set by the court. He was then turned back over to the state marshals to be presented to the court.
