Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: June 3-June 9

June 2

A 15-year-old student was issued a juvenile summons after a disturbance at . The student was released into the custody of a parent.

June 3

Peter J. Merle, 31, of 64 Field Rd., Apt. 4F, Somers, was arrested based on an active warrant for traveling unreasonably fast for conditions, evading responsibility, failure to drive right, a stop sign violation, a motor vehicle license violation, and interfering with an officer/non-assaultive.

June 4

Keith Mello, 34, of 456 Tolland St., East Hartford, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, evading responsibility, failure to yield to traffic, failure to notify the state Department of Motor Vehicles of address change, and possession of a firearm while intoxicated. An officer saw a black pickup truck pull out of the and directly into the path of a motorcycle that was traveling north on Route 83 in Ellington. The motorcycle put his bike to the ground and ran into the rear driver side quarter panel of the truck. The truck sped away from the accident scene traveling south on Route 83. The evading pickup truck was stopped about a half-mile south of the accident scene. The operator failed several roadside field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The operator of the motorcycle received minor injuries as a result of the accident. 

June 7

A 17-year-old male turned himself in on an active warrant out of Troop C, stemming from an incident on Orchard Street in Ellington. He was released on a $2,500 non-surety bond and to his mother. He is charged with third-degree burglary from a motor vehicle and sixth-degree larceny from a motor vehicle.

June 8

Nicholas Trabakoulos, 33, was transported from to Rockville Superior Court so that an active arrest warrant could be served. He was placed under arrest and charged with second-degree assault and possession of a weapon in a correctional facility. He was processed and held a $50,000 bond.
