Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: June 24-June 30

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of July 1, 2011. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

June 25

During the overnight hours of June 24-June 25, nine rolling cultivator units, approximately 12” in diameter, were taken from a tractor on the fields located at Durkee Road and Four Bridges Road in Somers. The items have a total value of approximately $1,000. The case remains under investigation.

John W. Krukoff, 48, of 16 Town Hall Rd. in Ashford, was arrested for disorderly conduct and third degree strangulation. Troopers responded to Hall Hill Road in Somers for a reported disturbance. After a brief investigation, Krukoff was arrested without incident.

A 36 year-old Ellington man was traveling west on Meadow Brook Road in Ellington when he lost control of his vehicle, owned by Enterprise Rental in Vernon, and struck a utility pole off the right shoulder. He then continued west on Meadow Brook Road and struck another utiltilty pole off the right shoulder before coming to a final rest. He was not injured.

A tan Toyota Tacoma was struck by a currently unidentified vehicle while parked at the Connecticut Parachutists parking area at the . The evading vehicle may have been a white or like colored SUV type vehicle.  

June 27

Petro Moore, 51, of 40 Cedar Swamp Rd. in Coventry, was arrested for disorderly conduct and third degree strangulation. He was taken into custody for these charges after a brief altercation on Mountain Street in Ellington. He was processed at Troop C and was released on a $2,500 non-surety bond.

Troopers were dispatched to a home on Springfield Road in Somers to investigate a larceny complaint. The complainant had his golf GPS taken from his rear deck of his home. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time. The case is still under investigation. 

June 28

David A. Deschene, 30, of 9 Walnut St. in Ellington was arrested for DWI after he was stopped at the gas station on the corner of Route 83 and Middle Butcher Road in Ellington. A strong odor of alcohol was detected from Deschene when he spoke. He was then field tested for DWI and arrested.

At approximately 3 a.m., unknown persons entered the victim’s detached garage on Collins Road in Somers and attempted to steal several pieces of lawn equipment. The victim and his son confronted the subjects who took off heading down Collins Road. A K-9 track was conducted with negative results. Anyone with information is asked to contact the 's office at 860-749-4955. 

Troopers were dispatched to a home on Crane Road in Ellington for a reported larceny of wire rope. The wire was taken by persons operating a UHaul van. Further descriptions were not provided. This incident is currently under investigation.

A vehicle was traveling southbound on Pinney Street, approximately one tenth of a mile south of Windermere Avenue in Ellington when the driver pulled to the right shoulder and stopped before engaging in a u-turn. That driver then turned into the passenger side of an approaching vehicle that was taking evasive action. The vehicles collided and both vehicles came to an uncontrolled final rest in the northbound lane and shoulder. Both vehicles had to be towed and both drivers and a passenger from one of the vehicles were transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

Daniel M. Blair, 20, of 21 Maple St. in Vernon, was involved in the above mentioned motor vehicle accident in Ellington. After the accident, Blair climbed on top of the other vehicle that was involved in the accident and punched in the windshield. He was taken into custody and charged with second degree mischief and breach of peace. Blair was transported to Troop C for processing and was released on a $2,500 non-surety bond. 

Antonio Sostre, 41, of Suffield was transported from  so that an active arrest warrant could be served. Sostre was placed under arrest on an active arrest warrant for assault on a peace officer and disorderly conduct. He was processed and held on a $250,000 bond set by the court. He was then turned back over to the state marshals to be presented to the court.
