Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: June 17-June 23

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of June 24, 2011. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

June 15

A woman on Parker Road in Somers is reporting a theft from her residence. The items - jewelry - were actually discovered missing back in November of 2010. The case is under investigation.

At approximately 7:52 a.m., state police responded to a motor vehicle accident in the area of Route 83 by Meadow Brook Road in Ellington. A 44 year-old Palmer, Mass. man was traveling north on Route 83 when he lost control of his vehicle and subsequently collided with a telephone pole and rolled the vehicle onto its side. No injuries were reported. 

June 16

Troopers were dispatched to on a complaint of false fire alarm pull. Subsequent investigation revealed that a 15 year-old, male student was responsible. He was issued a misdemeanor summons for second degree breach of peace. 

Troopers were dispatched to for a reported assault between an inmate and a corrections officer. The assault was not on-going and the corrections officer sustained minor injuries as a result of the assault. The case is under investigation.

June 18

A 25 year-old Vernon woman was traveling north on Egypt Road in Ellington when she got distracted and veered off the roadway to the right. She subsequently struck a group of mailboxes. No injuries were reported during the incident. 

Jamie S. Carter, 18, of 38 Lawrence St., Rockville, was observed operating an ATV on Gulf Road and Sodom Road in the Shenipsit State Forest. Upon doing a check of the ATV, the trooper found that it was found stolen out of Vernon. Carter was charged with second degree larceny, operating an unregistered ATV, operating an ATV on a road, and operating an ATV on state land. He was released on a $7,500 non surety bond.

June 20

A 55 year-old Stafford Springs man was traveling south on Turnpike Road in Somers when for an unknown reason, he drove off the right side of the roadway and laid his motorcycle down off the roadway. He had a minor laceration and was transported by to Bay State Medical Center for evaluation. The case is under investigation.

June 21

Daniel Liquori, Jr., 20, of 50 Harness Dr. in Somers, was transported from Manson Youth Institution to Rockville Superior Court so that an active arrest warrant could be served. He was placed under arrest on an active arrest warrant for two counts of third degree burglary, and two counts of sixth degree larceny theft from a building. He was processed and held on a $10,000 bond set by the court. He was then turned back over to the state marshals to be presented to the court on the above charges. 

Daniel Cote, 25, of 302 Ashmead Co. in Enfield, was arrested for driving under the influence and failure to display lights after he was observed traveling westbound on Route 190 in Somers with no headlights on. He was pulled over on Shaker Road. Upon speaking to Cote, the odor of alcohol was detected by the trooper. Cote was removed from vehicle and was administered several field sobriety tests which he failed. He was arrested and was released on a $500 non-surety bond after being held for several hours.

June 22

Michael A. Taylor, 19, of 77 Ninth District Rd. in Somers, was transported from Hartford Correctional Center to Danielson Superior Court so that an active arrest warrant for the accused could be served. He was placed under arrest on an active arrest warrant for third degree burglary, using a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission, and sixth degree larceny. Taylor was processed and held on a $5,000 bond set by Sgt. Konieczny. He was then turned back over to the state marshals to be presented to the court. 

June 23

A 16 year-old Somers man was traveling north on Parker Road in Somers and as he negotiated a right turn, the vehicle left the roadway to the right. This caused his vehicle to overturn onto its passenger side in a ditch located off the right shoulder. The operator and lone occupant of the vehicle was not injured.
