Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: July 6-July 12

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of July 13, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

July 11

A 32-year-old Vernon woman was traveling on the northbound side of West Road in Ellington, approximately 50 feet north of the Vernon town line. A 51-year-old Windsor man was traveling behind the other vehicle. The woman stopped to make a left turn and was struck by the man. Minor damage was done to both vehicles. Troopers were initially advised by the woman that there were no injuries to her passengers, but they were subsequently advised that two passengers complained of pain. Medical treatment was refused, stating that they would see own physician the next day. The woman was issued an infraction for no child restraining system for a 5-year-old passenger. The man was issued an infraction for following to closely. No vehicles were towed.

Michael Francis Richey, 56, of 18 West Shore Rd. in Ellington, was charged with breach of peace: threatening and threatening after state troopers responded to his address for reports of a disturbance. It was then determined that Richey threatened the victims, who were conducting a land survey, with a baseball bat. He was then arrested and transported to Troop C where he was processed and later released on a $2,500 non-surety bond and a Rockville Superior Court date of July 24.
